National Parents Day 2024:
History, Theme, Quotes, Wishes & Posters
Our lives have always revolved around our parents in a way. We often say that “we are what we hear and see and go through in life” and the largest part of this influence is from our parents. We see them as children, start arguing with them as youngsters, start discussing with them when we get a bit older, and finally, when we are mature enough, we start respecting them.
They always deserve our respect, simply for taking care of us. We often fail to give them the required respect and don't love them enough when we have the opportunity because of differences of opinion.
But despite all of this, the one thing we can all agree on is the fact that all the decisions that they ever took were always for our good. Though National Parent's Day is an American-based holiday, here in India, we still celebrate it even without any history due to the simple idea of “appreciation”.
National Parent's Day 2024 is going to be celebrated on 28th July and will this year also be in celebration of the dedication that all the parents put in raising their children.
National Parent's Day History
National Parent's Day History doesn't have a very long or complicated history but rather is simply traced back to the year 1994 when then-President Bill Clinton introduced the idea of National Parent's Day, to celebrate and appreciate parents for their efforts towards their children and the rest of the family as well. This day is to be celebrated every 4th Sunday of July. This day was first introduced as a bill in the US Parliament to appreciate and recognize the efforts of the parents.
This later passed and is now celebrated as a holiday in the USA and other countries as well, simply as a social memorial day for the parental efforts and sacrifices of the people. Another reason to celebrate the day in July is that Mother's and Father's Day fall in May and June; hence, the order of parental day celebration makes sense.
National Parent's Day Theme
The theme for 2024's National Parent's Day is “The Promise of Playful Parenting”.
The National Parent's Day Theme is a special reference to “soft parenting” where the kids are treated nicely and without being judged by their parents. Though it is something against the disciplining parenting of India, it is still considered the new and the most effective method of parenting.
Being playful with kids also helps the children grow and learn better while the parents can influence the children in a better and easier way than that of strict parenting. Our parent's Day theme is based on the new concept, but it is time now that we start focusing on soft parenting rather than always scolding them.
